Welcome to Nyajai Gardens!

Where you can Garden with the Goddess!

I’m Nyajai (Nye-Asia). I’m a Black organic grower and plant lover with a strong appreciation for nature, self-care, and peace. I am affectionately known as “The Garden Goddess” and live by the mantra, “what you water will grow.” Understanding the need for self-sufficiency, I discovered my love for gardening amongst the scarcity of resources during the Covid-19 Pandemic. My continued passion for maintaining food security and health is fueled by empowering others to grow and harvest; especially those in the Black Community.

In addition to being The Garden Goddess, I’m a Communications Manager for a major beverage company and a former social media specialist for the Mayor’s press office for the City of Chicago. I’ve also served as a producer/director of The Morning Show for Wisconsin Public Radio.

And yes, the rumors are true! Haha! I’m also an award nominated actress featured in critically acclaimed productions such as Survival Guide (Amazon.com), A Raisin in the Sun (Invictus Theatre Co.), In The Blood (Pulse Theatre Chicago), The Wood (Impostors Theatre Co.), Amadeus (Bartell Theatre), Detroit ’67 (KRASS Women’s Theatre Co.), and self-produced parodies such as WAP (Wild A** Peppers), Cauli and Baby Boy. I absolutely love incorporating these principles as I share my unique experience as an urban gardener on the south side of Chicago. Garden with me and share your journey on Instagram: @Nyajai.
